Fresh Strawberry Recipes
We want you to enjoy the magical taste of summer that you get from fresh picked strawberries from our farm. Enjoy a few of our favorite recipes as well as tips for storing and freezing.
Berries continue to ripen once picked, so we recommend cooling berries as soon as possible to stop the ripening process. When you leave our farm it is best to bring your berries home in the air conditioning vs. a hot trunk and go directly home to place your berries in the fridge. Do not leave your berries in a hot vehicle while you make other stops.
Our Strawberry Tips
Store in Refrigerator
To store in the refrigerator, do not remove caps or wash the berries until you are ready to use them. Store loosely covered and use within 3-5 days.
Wash Gently
To prepare, place berries in a strainer and gently rise with cool water. Avoid soaking the berries because they will absorb water and lose flavor. Remove caps after rinsing.
Enjoy at Room Temperature
For best flavor eat strawberries at room temperature by taking them out of the fridge a bit before eating.
Freeze Whole Berries
To freeze whole berries, place one layer of berries on a cookie sheet and freeze until firm. Remove from cookie sheet, package in freezer bags, seal. Serve slightly frozen to help fruit hold it’s shape.
Freeze Sliced Berries with Sugar
To freeze with sugar, slice berries into a bowl. Mix berries with sugar (6 cups berries to 1 cup sugar) and allow to stand about 10 minutes until sugar dissolves. Scoop strawberries and juice into freezer bags.
